Throwing
Before starting on the pottery wheel, the clay needs careful preparation through wedging to ensure an even texture. Then, you’ll place your prepared lump of clay on the wheel and follow a series of guided steps to center, shape, and form it into a vessel. Throughout, you’ll experience how the clay responds to your touch, learning to adjust and refine as the piece begins to take shape.
Trimming
Once your pieces have reached a leather-hard stage, it’s time to trim! This step allows you to refine each piece by carefully removing excess clay, making them lighter and adding those final touches that bring out their shape and details. After trimming, the pieces are left to dry for 7-10 days before undergoing their first firing.
Glazing
The final step to complete your ceramics is glazing. Under our guidance, you’ll explore various techniques for applying glazes, allowing you to choose the final look of each piece. After this, your creations will be fired one last time, ready for use.
