Coffee Cup - Sage & Gold
Product Description
A stoneware coffee cup with a soft sage glaze and a fine hand-painted gold line, made in Germany as part of a limited collaboration with the Düsseldorf jewellery brand Ariane Ernst.
The form is cylindrical with straight walls and a stable base, Ø 7.5 cm and H 6.5 cm, holding 190 ml — a contained volume well suited to flat white, cappuccino, or filter coffee. The piece translates the precision of jewellery into a functional ceramic object.
Each cup is thrown on the wheel from stoneware clay and fired at 1220 °C. At this temperature the body vitrifies and becomes food-safe without further sealing. A soft sage glossy glaze covers the cup inside and out. After firing, a fine gold line is painted by hand around the body in a second pass. Because the line is drawn by hand, its placement and weight vary slightly from piece to piece; this is part of the collaboration’s character.
Hand-wash recommended to preserve the gold detail over time. For specialty coffee in a quiet morning ritual, or as a small gift that crosses ceramics and jewellery.

It takes about 10 to 14 days to make each piece, depending on the season and weather. The process includes ten steps: wedging, throwing, trimming, stamping, sponging, first firing, sanding, glazing, second firing, and grinding, ensuring that each piece is ready to use.
