Handmade stoneware plates from our studio in Frankfurt am Main. Every plate is shaped by hand and fired at 1220 °C. At that temperature the clay body vitrifies and becomes food-safe without any further sealing, and every plate in this collection is dishwasher safe.
Five sizes for one table
Saucers measure Ø 11.5 cm and sit beneath an espresso cup or hold olives and condiments. Small plates at Ø 14 cm work for bread, cake and dessert. Breakfast plates at Ø 19 cm take a bread roll with butter and jam or a slice of cake with fruit. Bistro plates at Ø 22 cm cover a lunch course or a shared starter. Dinner plates at Ø 23.5 cm carry a full main course. All of them are flat at H 1.5 cm.
The flat form
Our plates end in a vertical edge rather than a curved rim, so the line stays unbroken and plates of different sizes stack cleanly. The proportion sits between the European side plate and the Japanese mamezara, the small bean plate used for individual servings at the table.
Glazes
Creme plates carry a transparent glossy glaze that lets the natural tone of the fired clay come through unaltered. Ice blue plates are covered in a single even colour glaze. The Lilac Sky edition made with CHEF:IN is spray-painted by hand from vivid pink into soft lilac, so the transition never lines up the same way twice.
Sets, seconds and samples
Breakfast plates, dinner plates and saucers are available as sets of two, four and eight. Studio seconds and samples carry small cosmetic flaws and are offered at reduced prices, fully functional. Made in Germany.
