Description
A four session pottery course for anyone who wants to learn the basics of wheel throwing and take their first steps into handmade ceramics. Each session lasts 2 hours and all materials, including clay, glaze and firing, are included in the price.
This beginner friendly pottery class takes place in our ceramics studio in Frankfurt and is limited to a small group, giving you enough time on the wheel and personal support throughout the process.
You will learn how to work with clay from the very beginning: from preparing the material to shaping your first pieces and finally glazing them before the final firing. This class is ideal if you want to explore pottery in a calm and supportive studio environment.
What you will learn
Session 1 and 2: After a short demonstration you will start practising directly on the wheel. You can create as many small tableware pieces as you like and get a feeling for centering and shaping clay.
Session 3: Trimming your leather hard pieces, refining the foot and silhouette, attaching handles and learning simple alteration techniques.
Session 4: Glazing and decorating your pottery, including dipping, brushing and pouring. You will finish around 6 to 8 pieces depending on your pace.
If you feel that you already have some experience and might be better suited for a more advanced workshop, you can find our Intermediate Wheel Class here.
Your finished ceramics will be ready for pickup about one week after the final class. Please note that we can only store pieces for up to two months due to limited space in our studio.
All sessions are fixed dates and cannot be rescheduled or refunded.
