Big Vase - Otis
Product Description
A tall stoneware vase from the Otis series with a partial black glossy glaze on the exterior, made in Germany.
The form is column-like with straight walls and a stable base, Ø 13 cm and H 22 cm. The proportion holds a long-stemmed branch, a bunch of dried grasses, or a small floral arrangement with weight to ground the table.
Each vase is thrown on the wheel from grey stoneware clay and fired at 1220 °C. At this temperature the body vitrifies and becomes waterproof without further sealing. The interior carries a transparent glossy glaze; the exterior is partially finished with a black glossy glaze, applied by hand so the line where the black meets the raw stoneware shifts from piece to piece. The contrast between deep black gloss and the matte texture of the clay is the defining detail of the Otis series.
