Product Description
A small breakfast set pairing two stoneware coffee cups with two matching saucers, all finished in the red splash glaze, made in Germany.
The cup is cylindrical with straight walls and a stable base, Ø 7.5 cm and H 6.5 cm, holding 190 ml – a balanced volume for filter coffee, flat white, or cappuccino. The saucer follows the proportion of a Japanese mamezara: a flat dish with a vertical edge, Ø 11.5 cm, sized so the cup sits cleanly with room for a small spoon or a piece of chocolate alongside.
Each piece is shaped from stoneware clay and fired at 1220 °C. At this temperature the body vitrifies and becomes food-safe without further sealing. The interior of each cup and the surface of each saucer carry a single splash of red glaze applied by hand; the surrounding areas are finished in a transparent glossy glaze that lets the clay body show through. Because the red is poured rather than painted, no two pieces are identical – the spread, density, and edge of the splash vary across the four pieces.
