Part of Viola Beuscher x CHEF:IN, a limited ceramics edition created with CHEF:IN, a platform dedicated to showcasing and supporting female top chefs.
As a female-founded ceramic studio with an almost entirely female team, this collaboration is close to our hearts. This breakfast plate carries the edition’s Lilac Sky surface: a spray-painted gradient moving from vivid pink into soft lilac, handmade in our Frankfurt studio.
The form is flat with a clean vertical edge rather than a curved rim. At Ø 19 cm and H 1.5 cm, it holds a bread roll with butter and jam, a slice of cake with fruit, or a small pasta course. The proportion sits between a European side plate and a Japanese mamezara — wide enough for a full breakfast, contained enough to keep the table composed.
Each plate is shaped from stoneware clay and fired at 1220 °C. The surface is spray-painted by hand with glossy pink and lilac glazes in successive passes, so the transition stays soft and never lines up the same way twice.
No two plates are identical: the position of the colour bands and the density of each tone shift from piece to piece.
For breakfast, bread courses, pastries, fruit, or as a side plate for a table shaped by the people and stories behind it.

Every item is handcrafted in our pottery studio in Frankfurt by our workshop team of six.
It takes about 10 to 14 days to make each piece, depending on the season and weather. The process includes ten steps: wedging, throwing, trimming, stamping, sponging, first firing, sanding, glazing, second firing, and grinding, ensuring that each piece is ready to use.
