Product Description
A stoneware matcha cup from the Viola Beuscher studio, finished in a transparent glossy glaze over a creme stoneware body and made in Germany.
The form is a wide, rounded cup with a stable base, Ø 9 cm and H 6.5 cm, holding 250 ml. It is wide enough to whisk matcha in and deep enough to drink from, so preparing and drinking happen in the same vessel, hot or over ice.
Each cup is thrown on the potter's wheel from stoneware clay sourced from the German Westerwald and fired at 1220 °C after 14 days across 12 work steps. Fired until the body vitrifies, the cup stays food-safe without further sealing and goes in the dishwasher.
The transparent glaze lets the warm creme tone of the clay show through. Because every cup is thrown by hand, the wall thickness and the way the glaze settles differ slightly from piece to piece.
