Product Description
A stoneware matcha cup from the Viola Beuscher studio with a soft airbrushed pink-to-red gradient on the exterior, made in Germany.
The form is a wide, rounded cup with a stable base, Ø 9 cm and H 6.5 cm, holding 250 ml. It is wide enough to whisk matcha in and deep enough to drink from, so preparing and drinking happen in the same vessel, hot or over ice.
Each cup is thrown on the potter's wheel from grey stoneware clay sourced from the German Westerwald and fired at 1220 °C after 14 days across 12 work steps. The interior carries a clear glossy glaze, the exterior is airbrushed by hand in a gradient that runs from soft pink into deep red. Fired until the body vitrifies, the cup stays food-safe without further sealing and goes in the dishwasher.
Because the airbrushing is guided by hand, the reach and blend of the colour shift from piece to piece, so no two cups carry the same surface.
