Product Description
A small altar set pairing a stoneware saucer finished with a sprayed red-pink-lilac gradient with three palo santo sticks, made in Germany.
The saucer follows the proportion of a Japanese mamezara – a flat dish with a vertical edge, Ø 11.5 cm. Its scale fits a single stick laid across the surface, with room for the ash to fall and stay contained. The palo santo (Bursera graveolens) is sustainably harvested from naturally fallen branches in Peru and Ecuador, then aged before being cut into sticks of roughly 10 cm.
The saucer is shaped from stoneware clay and fired at 1220 °C, the temperature at which the body vitrifies and becomes food-safe and heat-resistant without further sealing. The interior is sprayed by hand with three glossy glazes – red, pink, and lilac – applied in successive passes so the transitions stay soft and never line up the same way twice. Because the spray is hand-guided, the position of each colour band shifts slightly from piece to piece.
For ritual smoke, scenting a room, or as a small dish for a stick of palo santo at the entrance or on a desk.
