Matcha sets from the Viola Beuscher studio: pouring bowl, matcha cup and whisk holder, handmade from German Westerwald stoneware and fired at 1220 °C. From raw clay to the finished piece, it takes 14 days and 12 steps. Some sets are ceramics only, others come with a bamboo whisk and a tin of organic tea.
What is in a set
Every set holds the same three ceramic pieces: a pouring bowl at Ø 11 cm for whisking and pouring, a matcha cup at Ø 9 cm and H 6.5 cm holding 250 ml, and a whisk holder at Ø 5 cm that keeps a bamboo chasen upright so its prongs dry in shape.
Colours
Three colourways: Classic, where glossy red meets transparent glaze, Otis, dipped in glossy black against the bare stoneware, and Gradient, airbrushed by hand from soft pink into deep red. Because glaze and airbrush are guided by hand, no two sets carry the same surface.
With or without tea
The ceramic-only sets suit anyone who already has their tea and whisk. The complete sets add a 100 percent bamboo whisk and a 30 g tin, roughly 15 servings, of one of four teas: Organic Ceremonial Matcha from Chiran, Organic Ceremonial Matcha Supreme from Kirishima, the single-estate Limited Edition Uji Matcha from Kyoto, or roasted Organic Hojicha Powder for a lower-caffeine cup.
Care
Fired until the body vitrifies, every ceramic piece stays food-safe without further sealing and goes in the dishwasher.
