Coffee Cup - Steffi Bauer Brown
Product Description
A stoneware coffee cup from Viola Beuscher x Steffi Bauer, a limited collaboration between Frankfurt-based ceramicist Viola Beuscher and the Munich-based illustrator and textile designer Steffi Bauer, whose work often revolves around food, tables and shared meals. Here, Steffi draws a fine table scene, such as a fruit bowl with apples, by hand with a brown underglaze pencil before glazing.
The cup shares its form with the Happy Edition coffee cup: cylindrical with straight walls and a stable base, Ø 7.5 cm and H 6.5 cm, holding 190 ml. A good size for flat white, cappuccino or filter coffee.
The whole cup, inside and out, is covered in a transparent glossy glaze. The brown pencil lines sit underneath it, sealed into the surface like a drawing under glass, against the warm creme tone of the clay. Each cup is handcrafted, hand-drawn and fired at 1220 °C, and the finished ceramic is food-safe. Because the illustration is drawn freehand, every cup is slightly different.
Limited edition: the whole collaboration comprises just 150 cups and 30 vases.
