Coffee Cup - Steffi Bauer Red
Product Description
A stoneware coffee cup from Viola Beuscher x Steffi Bauer, a limited collaboration between Frankfurt-based ceramicist Viola Beuscher and the Munich-based illustrator and textile designer Steffi Bauer, whose work often revolves around food, tables and shared meals. Here, Steffi paints loose shapes, dots and small signs by hand in a glossy red glaze directly onto the raw clay.
The cup shares its form with the Happy Edition coffee cup: cylindrical with straight walls and a stable base, Ø 7.5 cm and H 6.5 cm, holding 190 ml. A good size for flat white, cappuccino or filter coffee.
The exterior is left as raw stoneware in a warm creme tone, so the glossy red lines stand out against the matte clay. The interior carries a transparent glossy glaze. Each cup is handcrafted, hand-painted and fired at 1220 °C, and the finished ceramic is food-safe. Because the illustration is painted freehand, line weight and placement vary from cup to cup – no two are alike.
Limited edition: the whole collaboration comprises just 150 cups and 30 vases.
