Product Description
A stoneware matcha cup from the Viola Beuscher studio with a bold glossy red glaze inside and out, made in Germany.
The form is a wide, rounded cup with a stable base, Ø 9 cm and H 6.5 cm, holding 250 ml. It is wide enough to whisk matcha in and deep enough to drink from, so preparing and drinking happen in the same vessel, hot or over ice.
Each cup is thrown on the potter's wheel from grey stoneware clay sourced from the German Westerwald and fired at 1220 °C after 14 days across 12 work steps. It is then fully glazed in a bold, glossy red, inside and out. Fired until the body vitrifies, the cup stays food-safe without further sealing and goes in the dishwasher.
Because every cup is thrown and glazed by hand, the depth of the red and the way it breaks over the rim differ slightly from piece to piece.
