Product Description
The Matcha Set - Otis brings together three hand-thrown stoneware pieces from the Viola Beuscher studio, a bamboo whisk and a tin of organic hojicha powder: a partially glazed pouring bowl, a matcha cup and a whisk holder in transparent glaze.
Every ceramic piece is thrown on the potter's wheel from stoneware clay sourced from the German Westerwald and fired at 1220 °C after 14 days across 12 work steps. The pouring bowl measures Ø 11 cm, the cup Ø 9 cm at H 6.5 cm and 250 ml, the whisk holder Ø 5 cm. The ceramic pieces are food-safe and dishwasher safe.
The tea is our Organic Hojicha Powder, 30 g for roughly 15 servings, from Kagoshima: roasted green tea, nutty and toasty with a hint of caramel, and lower in caffeine than matcha, so it suits the later hours of the day. A 100 percent bamboo whisk (chasen) comes with it.
Glossy black and transparent glazes meet the bare stoneware, and because each piece is dipped by hand, no two sets carry exactly the same contrast. Nothing else is needed to start: whisk in the bowl, pour into the cup, stand the whisk in the holder to dry in shape.
