Product Description
A deep stoneware ramen bowl from the Otis series with a glossy black exterior glaze, made in Germany.
The form is deep and steeply walled with a narrow foot, Ø 21.5 cm and H 9 cm. That depth holds a full bowl of ramen with broth, noodles and toppings without crowding the rim, and it works the same way for pho, udon, or a generous portion of soup or stew.
Each bowl is thrown on the potter's wheel from grey stoneware clay and fired at 1220 °C. At this temperature the body vitrifies and becomes food-safe without further sealing. The interior carries a transparent glossy glaze, and the exterior is partly covered with a glossy black glaze, so part of the bare grey clay stays visible. Because every bowl is glazed individually, the line where the black glaze meets the raw clay sits differently on each piece.
For ramen, pho, udon, soups and stews, or as a deep serving bowl for a shared side.
