Set of 2 - Breakfast Plate - Splash Red
Product Description
Two stoneware breakfast plates with a red splash glaze, made in Germany.
The form is cylindrical and flat, with a clean vertical edge rather than a curved rim. At Ø 19 cm each plate holds a bread roll with butter and jam, a slice of cake with fruit, or a small pasta course. The proportion sits between the European side plate and the Japanese mamezara: wide enough for a full breakfast, contained enough to keep the table composed.
Each piece is shaped from stoneware clay and fired at 1220 °C. The finished ceramic is food-safe. The interior carries a single splash of red glaze applied by hand, and the surrounding areas are finished in a transparent glossy glaze that lets the clay body show through. Because the red is poured rather than painted, no two plates are identical: the spread, density, and edge of the splash vary from piece to piece.
Two plates set a breakfast table for two. Because each splash is poured separately, the pair arrives with two different red marks rather than one pattern repeated twice.
