Coffee & Espresso

Handmade ceramic cups for coffee, made in the Viola Beuscher studio in Germany. Every cup is handmade from stoneware clay and fired at 1220 °C, a temperature at which the body vitrifies and stays food-safe without any further sealing. All of them go in the dishwasher.

Which size for which drink

The espresso cups hold 75 ml at Ø 5.5 cm, sized for a single concentrated shot. The coffee cups run from 180 ml to 240 ml, wide enough for a flat white, cappuccino, or filter coffee, with room for latte art. The flat white cup is a case of its own at Ø 8.5 cm and H 5.5 cm with 180 ml, deliberately wide and low so the microfoam has surface and the milk-to-espresso ratio stays right.

The series

Nomi is the cylindrical line in grey stoneware, available with hand-painted black brush strokes, a raw unglazed exterior, or a full ice blue glaze. Yun is the rounded line at Ø 9 cm and 240 ml, glazed edge to edge in a single colour. The Happy Edition carries spray-applied glazes and bold colour gradients. Each cup is handmade, so wall thickness and glaze flow differ slightly from piece to piece.
