Big Vase Deformed Creme
Product Description
A tall stoneware vase with a deliberately deformed, organic silhouette under a clear glossy glaze, made in Germany by Viola Beuscher.
The vase stands 21 cm tall with a diameter of 19 cm and weighs about 2 kg, so it carries tall branches and heavy stems without tipping. The opening is wide enough for a loose, unarranged bunch.
Each vase is thrown on the wheel from creme stoneware clay and then pushed out of round while the clay is still soft, so the wall dents and swells by hand rather than by mould. A clear glossy glaze covers the whole body inside and out, which keeps the piece watertight and lets the warm creme tone of the clay read through.
Because the deformation is done by hand on every piece, no two vases carry the same curve, and the silhouette changes depending on which side faces the room.

Every item is handcrafted in our pottery studio in Frankfurt by our workshop team of six.
It takes about 10 to 14 days to make each piece, depending on the season and weather. The process includes ten steps: wedging, throwing, trimming, stamping, sponging, first firing, sanding, glazing, second firing, and grinding, ensuring that each piece is ready to use.
