Espresso Cup - Nomi Pepe
Product Description
A stoneware espresso cup from the Nomi series, painted by hand with glossy black brush strokes, made in Germany.
The form is compact with straight walls and a stable base, Ø 5.5 cm and H 4.5 cm, holding 70 ml, sized for a single concentrated espresso. Nomi means "to drink" in Japanese, and the series carries that spare, everyday character.
Each cup is thrown on the potter's wheel from grey stoneware clay and fired at 1220 °C. At this temperature the body vitrifies and becomes food-safe without further sealing. The interior carries a transparent glossy glaze, and on the exterior free black brush strokes are painted directly onto the unglazed clay. Because each cup is brushed by hand, the rhythm and density of the strokes vary from piece to piece, so no two cups are identical.
For an espresso ritual at home, or as part of a layered tea and coffee setting alongside the rest of the Nomi series.
