Coffee Cup - Blue & Gold
Product Description
A stoneware coffee cup in a glossy blue glaze with a fine hand-painted gold line, made in Germany as part of a limited collaboration with the Düsseldorf jewellery brand Ariane Ernst.
The form is cylindrical with straight walls and a stable base, Ø 7.5 cm and H 6.5 cm, holding 190 ml. That volume takes a double shot with milk without filling to the rim, which is what makes it work for flat white, cappuccino or filter coffee.
Each cup is thrown on the wheel from stoneware clay and fired at 1220 °C. The finished ceramic is food-safe. The glossy blue glaze covers the cup inside and out. After firing, a fine gold line is painted by hand around the body in a second pass, which is why its placement and weight vary slightly from piece to piece.
Hand wash recommended. The gold sits on top of the fired glaze rather than under it, so a dishwasher will wear it down over time even though the ceramic itself would take it.
