The difference between a second and a sample
A second is a regular collection piece with a small cosmetic flaw: a glaze pool, a faint mark, a slightly uneven rim, a light warp, or tiny clay specks in the glaze. A sample is not flawed at all. It is a piece made in small numbers outside the regular collections, a prototype, a one-off developed for a customer, or overproduction, and often only a single piece exists. Both are sold at a reduced price; only the second has a defect to disclose.
What use is affected
Nothing on this page is limited in use. Every piece is fired at 1220 °C, which vitrifies the stoneware body and makes it food-safe without further sealing, and tableware here takes the dishwasher just like the full-price version. The flaws are cosmetic, and each product page names the specific one before you buy.
What is in the sale
The range shifts constantly, but it usually covers coffee, espresso and tea cups, breakfast, pasta, dinner and serving bowls, plates and saucers, matcha cups and whisk holders, carafes and vases. Because most of these are single pieces rather than restocked lines, a piece you see here is unlikely to return once it sells.
