Cups and mugs from the Viola Beuscher studio, thrown by hand on the potter's wheel from stoneware clay in Germany and fired at 1220 °C. At that temperature the body vitrifies, so every piece stays food-safe without further sealing and goes straight in the dishwasher.
Cup or mug
The cups are handleless and sit in the palm, which is why the wall thickness matters as much as the volume: they run from a 75 ml espresso cup to a 260 ml tea cup. The mugs are the larger, more generous option for a long morning coffee or a big pot of tea. If you want a cup you hold rather than one you pick up by a handle, start with the cups.
Made one at a time
Each piece is thrown individually, dried, trimmed, glazed, and fired. Depending on the series the surface carries hand-painted brush strokes, raw unglazed clay, an even single-colour glaze, or a hand-sprayed gradient. Small differences in wall thickness and glaze flow are part of the result, not a defect.
Care, sets, and reduced pieces
Everything here is dishwasher safe and needs no special treatment. Many forms come as sets of two, four, or six. Pieces with a small cosmetic flaw are sold as seconds at a reduced price, and samples are one-offs made outside the regular collections.
